Revisiting a former post: DTD uses air hammer to install water supply well in Colorado landslide deposit
A small town on the western slope in Colorado was in need of improvements to its near-surface water supply. A stream cascades off the Rockies, meanders seasonally, and sinks into the ground as it crosses a landslide deposit consisting of granitic boulders, cobble, and sand. The consistent collection of water in this location is extremely difficult.
Well Site
DTD was tasked with setting two collection wells into the land slide deposit at an elevation of 7,500 feet. The extreme drilling conditions required the setting of casing to stabilize the ground and allow the installation of a stainless steel casing and screen. The well materials were set at an upward angle such that water flows freely from the ground providing a continuous passive supply.

The passive supply was necessary because the well site is in a remote setting with no electricity 4.5 miles of rugged jeep trail from the nearest road.
